If you’ve visited Long Beach you’ve probably pulled into one of the parking lots near Incinerator Rock. (The lots are quite close to the airport.) This is where most people get their first view of Long Beach.
This is what it looked like in the 1920s.
Do you see why I was intrigued to write this book? When most people visit Long Beach they are awed and inspired by its vastness, its beauty, its wildness. And it is all those things, but it is also a place that has been quite “peopled” over the years.
